Teach Me While My Heart is Tender

01. Why Can't I See God?

Why can't I see God?  Is He watching me?
Is He somewhere out in space, or is He here with me?
I am just a child; Teach me from His Word…
Then I’ll go and tell to all the great things I have heard!

Teach me while my heart is tender;
Tell me all that I should know
And even through the years I will remember
No matter where I go!

Can I talk to God?  Does He hear my prayer?
Will He answer when I pray?  Does He really care?
Did God make the world?  What's the Trinity?
Is there something God can't do?
Tell these things to me.

Teach me while my heart is tender;
Tell me all that I should know
And even through the years I will remember
No matter where I go!

Teach me while my heart is tender;
Tell me all that I should know
And even through the years I will remember
No matter where I go!

02. God Made Me

God made me and everything that in this world I see;
For His own glory God made everything and me!
He made the seas, the mountains high, the big bright rainbow in the sky!
For His own glory God made everything, and ME!

God made the sunshine bright; stars that twinkle in the night!
He made the butterfly…See the butterfly flutter by!

God made me and everything that in this world I see;
For His own glory God made everything and me!

God made the kangaroo, fish that swim in the ocean blue!
He made the bear and lion…sticky, prickly porcupine!

God made me and everything that in this world I see;
For His own glory God made everything and me!
God made me and everything that in this world I see;
For His own glory God made everything and ME!

03. How Can I Glorify God?

How can I glorify God?  For I must glorify God;
And I can glorify God by loving Him and keeping His commands.

How can you glorify God?  For you must glorify God;
And you can glorify God by loving Him and keeping His commands!

I want to praise the Lord and thank him everyday;
He'll know my love is real if I will just obey!

How can I glorify God?  For I must glorify God;
And I can glorify God by loving Him and keeping His commands.

If you want to praise the Lord and thank Him everyday,
He'll know your love is real if you will just obey!

How can you glorify God?  For you must glorify God;
And you can glorify God by loving Him and keeping His commands!

04. Why Should You Glorify God?

Why should you, why should I
Glorify God, can you tell me why?
Because He made us, don’t you see?
And he takes care of you and me!

If you glorify the Lord,
Living according to His Word,
He will be to you a friend,
And He will keep you to the end!

So why should you, why should I
Glorify God, can you tell me why?
Because He made us, don’t you see?
And he takes care of you and me!

The Three in One!

And all are equal in power and glory…God the Trinity!

06. God is a Spirit

God is a Spirit, just think of the wind…
He doesn't have a body like men, oh no!
He doesn't have a body like men.

Just think of the wind blowing here, blowing there…
Just like the wind He's everywhere, oh yes!
Just like the wind He's everywhere.

God is infinite, eternal, unchangeable, too,
In His being and wisdom and power and holiness,
Justice and goodness and truth!

God is a Spirit, just think of the wind…
He doesn't have a body like men, oh no!
He doesn't have a body like men.

07. I'm Hiding from Mommy

I'm hiding from Mommy and no one can see;
I'm hiding and no one will know!
But I just remembered that God's watching me;
He knows everything that I do.

I cannot see God, but He always sees me…
Nothing can be hid from God.

When I'm in the kitchen and no one's around,
I know I can sneak and get cookies;
But I will obey what my mother has said,
For I know that God will be looking!

I cannot see God, but He always sees me…
Nothing can be hid from God.

When Dad says "Good night!"
And he turns out the light,
And darkness is covering me;
I think about God Who can see
Through the night
And thank Him He's caring for me!

I cannot see God, but He always sees me…
Nothing can be hid from God.

I'm hiding from Mommy and no one can see;
I'm hiding and no one will know!
But I just remembered that God's watching me;
He knows everything that I do.

I cannot see God, but He always sees me…
Nothing can be hid from God.

08. God Can Do Anything

Is there anyone who can ever do
Anything that he wants to do?
Yes, God can, God can do all His holy will!
I'm so glad that God watches over me,
And He always does what is best for me,
And God will, always, do all His holy will.

God never changes, He remains the same;
He has a plan to glorify His name.
Man makes a plan, but God directs his way;
He is doing all His holy will each day!

Is there anyone who can ever do
Anything that he wants to do?
Yes, God can, God can do all His holy will!
I'm so glad that God watches over me,
And He always does what is best for me,
And God will, always, do all His holy will.

We never need to worry or to fear;
God has control of all things far and near.
If we should stand or even if we fall,
God is working out His purpose in it all!

Is there anyone who can ever do
Anything that he wants to do?
Yes, God can, God can do all His holy will!
I'm so glad that God watches over me,
And He always does what is best for me,
And God will, always, do all His holy will.
Yes, God will, always, do all His holy will.

09. Where Do You Learn?

Where you learn how to love and obey;
How to love and obey God the Father?
In the Bible alone…only there can you learn
How to love and obey our great God!

Many men long ago wrote the Bible we know,
Holy men who were taught by the Spirit.
Help us, Lord, everyday, your commands to obey,
As we learn from the Bible alone.

When your friends tell you something you feel is wrong,
And the world tells you what you should do;
You can find all the answers within God's Word…
It was written for me and for you!

Oh, where you learn how to love and obey;
How to love and obey God the Father?
In the Bible alone…only there can you learn
How to love and obey our great God!

10. Adam and Eve

Adam and Eve were our first father and mother;
God made Adam from the dust of the earth,
And Eve was made from Adam,
And God gave to Adam and Eve a soul that could never die;
They were happy and holy in the garden that day until Satan told his lie.
And I have a soul like our first father and mother,
And I want to serve the Lord with all of my soul, and never serve another,
And then I'll be happy and holy and not believe Satan's lie…
For just like Adam and Eve,
I have a soul that will never, ever die.

And then I'll be happy and holy and not believe Satan's lie…
For just like Adam and Eve,
I have a soul that will never, ever die.
For just like Adam and Eve,
I have a soul that will never, ever die.

11. God Made a Covenant with Adam

God made a covenant with Adam…
He promised life to Adam on that day.
He told Adam he would live forever,
If His command he perfectly obeyed.
But if he went his own way and didn't follow God, then he would have to die someday and life would be so hard.
Oh, Adam!  Life is yours if you obey.

Satan the serpent came to Eden
And said to Eve, "Now listen to me…
You'll surely never die, but you'll be wise as God, if you just eat the fruit upon this tree!"
And Eve believed the serpent
And broke the Lord's command,
And Adam also sinned and they were driven from the land!

Oh, Adam!  Selfishness brings misery.
Oh oh, Adam!  Selfishness brings misery!

12. The Salvation Song

The praises of my tongue
I offer to the Lord,
And thank Him I was taught so young
To love His holy Word!

Oh Lord, Your Word alone
Instructs me where to go
For grace to pardon all my sin
And make me holy, too.

I'm glad I came to know
How Jesus, God's own Son,
Gave His life upon the cross
To set us free from sin.

And now He reigns above
And sends His Spirit down
To show the wonders of His love
And make His gospel known.

Oh Holy Spirit, teach,
And make my heart receive
The truth which all your servants preach
And all your saints believe!

Yes, I shall praise the Lord,
And thank him everyday
That I was taught to love His Word
And follow in His way!

13. Ten Commandments

Thou shalt have no other gods but Me;
Before no idol bow thy knee.
Take not the Name of God in vain;
Nor dare the Sabbath Day profane.
Give both thy parents honor due;
Take heed that thou no murder do.
Abstain from words and deeds unclean;
Nor steal, though thou art poor and lean.
And do not lie, but always say what is true,
And covet not the things that don't belong to you!

Thou shalt have no other gods but Me;
Before no idol bow thy knee.
Take not the Name of God in vain;
Nor dare the Sabbath Day profane.
Give both thy parents honor due;
Take heed that thou no murder do.
Abstain from words and deeds unclean;
Nor steal, though thou art poor and lean.
And do not lie, but always say what is true,
And covet not the things that don't belong to you!

14. The Greatest Commandment

With all your soul love God above,
And as yourself your neighbor love;
And be to others kind and true,
As you'd have others be to you…
As you'd have others be to you!

Love God with all your soul and strength,
With your heart and all your mind;
And love your neighbor as yourself;
Be faithful, just and good and kind;
Be faithful, just and good and kind!

With all your soul love God above,
And as yourself your neighbor love;
And be to others kind and true,
As you'd have others be to you…
As you'd have others be to you!

15. Let Us Pray

God has not left us to find our own way…
He has commanded that we are to pray;
Let us pray!  Ask forgiveness, repenting of all of our sin.
And thank Him for mercies He's shown is again and again…
Give Him the glory and honor forever, Amen!

Pray that you will not be tempted to sin…
And if you are that you'll never give in.
Pray for wisdom and patience,
And pray for your enemies, too!
Pray according to His will,
And He'll do the best thing for you!
Give him the glory and honor forever, Amen!

God will not listen to just anyone…
Only believers who trust in His Son
Have the promise He hears us;
On Him we may cast all our cares.
Pray in His name, believing…
And He'll answer all of our prayers!

Give him the glory and honor forever, Amen!
Give him the glory and honor forever, Amen!

16. I will Sing unto the Lord

I will sing unto the Lord!
I will sing unto the Lord!
For He has done great things
And this why I sing
Oh I will raise my voice and praise Him evermore!
I will sing unto the Lord!
I will sing unto the Lord!
And glory in His name, and praise the One who came
To break away the chains of sin forevermore!
We will sing unto the Lord!
We will sing unto the Lord!
Oh blessed is the man who delights in His commands!
For mighty will his children be forevermore!
For mighty will his children be forevermore!

17. Go to the Ant

Are you responsible?
Do you ever do a job without being told to?
Or are you the lazy kind, and your mother and your father always have to scold you?
Well, God in His wisdom tells us where to go
To one of his smallest of teachers
If you want to be a responsible person, then learn how from one of His creatures
Go to the Ant!  Observe her - see how she works all day
And she doesn't even have a captain to tell her what to do, but she works hard anyway
Go to the Ant! and listen
Tell me, does she complain?
She is God's illustration of organization - Go to the Ant!
Are you the thoughtful kind?
Do you ever ask what you can do to help your mother?
Or do you complain and whine
And you lie around and hope that she will ask your brother?
Well, there was a poor irresponsible sluggard, who slept when there was work to be done
But too late he realized his foolish behavior
And poverty hit him like a man with gun!
Go to the Ant!  Oh sluggard - see how she works all day
And she doesn't even have a captain to tell her what to do, but she works hard anyway
Go to the Ant! and listen
Tell me, does she complain?
God made her, now you imitate her - Go to the Ant!

18. The Tongue

He said that you said that I said that he was a liar
But what he said that you said that I said, it just isn't so!
Can't you see - that the tongue can destroy like a fire
When we whisper and spread around gossip wherever we go?

Oh, the tongue - it can cut like a knife!
Oh, the tongue can ruin an innocent life
Stop!  Think about, think about the way that you say the things that you say
Oh, the tongue can encourage a friend
Or the tongue can cause a friendship to end
What will you say today?
What will you say today? - with your tongue

A forest can burn to the ground when a fire is started
It begins with a very small spark, then grows to a flame
Oh, the tongue be just like a fire, unguarded
It has power to bring about or cause trouble and pain

Oh, the tongue - it can cut like a knife!
Oh, the tongue can ruin an innocent life
Stop!  Think about, think about the way that you say the things that you say
Oh, the tongue can encourage a friend
Or the tongue can cause a friendship to end
What will you say today?
What will you say today? - with your tongue

19. The School of the Fool

There was a young man
I don't remember his name
All I remember is he thought that life was a game
He only followed his own opinions
He loved to break every rule
He was a first class, A+ student
In the school of a fool!

He was his best friend, he was his worst enemy
And there was nothin' that he took seriously
He mocked his teachers, he laughed at learnin'
He thought that lyin' was cool!
He was a first class, A+ student, in the school of a fool!
He was a fool - he was not wise - he played the fool - he paid the price

He had a temper and he would let it explode
If he was angry, you can be sure that it showed
Whenever anyone tried to help him,
He always treated them cruelly
He was a first class, A+ student, in the school of a fool!
He was a fool - he was not wise - he played the fool - he paid the price

So pay attention, and learn a lesson, my friend!
This foolish young man came to a terrible end
You see it's wise guys who are rewarded, so just remember this rule:
Don't be a first class, A+ student, in the school of a fool!
He was a fool  - he was not wise - he played the fool - he payed the price
Don't be a fool - be wise! Be wise!
You play the fool - you'll pay the price
Don't be a fool - be wise! Be wise!
You play the fool - you'll pay the price…

20. Listen My Son

Listen, my son to the words that I say
Keep all I tell you within your heart
If you will search after wisdom as gold, many hidden treasures will unfold
My father taught me when I was just a boy, saying, "Follow the wise way, and you will have great joy!"
Now I am telling those same words to you, following the Word of God so true.

Daddy, I know you love me
Thank you for taking the time
To lead my feet in the right way
So maybe someday to my little boy I will say…

Listen, my son to the words that I say
Keep all I tell you within your heart
If you will search after wisdom as gold, many hidden treasures will unfold.

21. Seven Awful Things

There are six things - even seven, that the Lord hates - things He cannot stand!
Proud looking eyes
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
A heart that thinks of wicked things to do
And feet that run to evil, too
Anyone who loves to lie about others
And the one who causes trouble with his brothers

God is love - we know that's true
But God hates things that we should hate too
Like proud looking eyes
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
A heart that thinks of wicked things to do
And feet that run to evil, too
Anyone who loves to lie about others
And the one who causes trouble with his brothers

There are six things - even seven, that the Lord hates - things He cannot stand!
Proud looking eyes
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
A heart that thinks of wicked things to do
And feet that run to evil, too
Anyone who loves to lie about others
And the one who causes trouble with his brothers

22. Isabelle is a Pig

Isabelle is a pig with a ring in her snout
You can dress Izzy up but you can't take her out
She will jump in the middle of a big mud puddle 'cause Isabelle is a pig!
Now a pretty little girl when her temper shows, looks like a pig with a ring her nose
All the cute little ribbons and ruffles and rings look silly when you do them foolish things!
You can dress up a pig but you can't take her out
With a bright gold ring in her pink pig snout
She will jump in the middle of a big mud puddle 'cause a pig is a pig is a pig.
Now, pretty little girls when they cry and pout, look like Izzy with a ring in her snout
All the buttons and bows and curls and lace, don't look pretty with a grumpy face!
You can dress up a pig but you can't take her out
With a bright gold ring in her pink pig snout
She will jump in the middle of a big mud puddle 'cause a pig is a pig is a pig.
So be a little girl who loves to obey
Listen to your parents everyday
Don't be like a pig who wallows in the mud
What she wears can make what she does look good!
Isabelle is a pig with a ring in her snout
You can dress Izzy up but you can't take her out
She will jump in the middle of a big mud puddle 'cause Isabelle is a pig!

23. Talk to Me

My mother always talks with me
I love to hear her voice;
She tells me wonderful things of God that make my heart rejoice!
It doesn't matter if we're home or riding in the car, or on a sunny day when we go for a walk
It may be early in the morning or before I go to bed
She always takes the time to talk to me
Talk to me…show me that you care!
Talk to me…listen to what I say!
Talk to me…there's so much we can share!
I know you love me when you talk to me
My father comes home from work at night and even though he is very tired
He reads the Bible and we talk it out, and he closes the day with prayer
It doesn't matter if we're home or riding in the car, or on a sunny day when we go for a walk
It may be early in the morning or before I go to bed
He always takes the time to talk to me
Talk to me…show me that you care!
Talk to me…listen to what I say!
Talk to me…there's so much we can share!
I know you love me when you talk to me
Talk to me…show me that you care!
Talk to me…listen to what I say!

24. Glorify Him

If you eat, if you drink, or whatever, whatever you do
Do it all to the glory of God!
Serve him in everything, in all that you do
He is the one who gives you life!
He keeps your heart beating, beating, beating,
So follow on, but as you go, be sure He's leading, leading, leading

"All the way
What you say
Everyday
Come what may
He's the way
Glorify Him!"

"All the way
What you say
Everyday
Come what may
He's the way
Glorify Him!"

If you eat, if you drink, or whatever, whatever you do
Do it all to the glory of God!
Serve him in everything, in all that you do
He is the one who gives you life!
He keeps your heart beating, beating, beating,
So follow on, but as you go, be sure He's leading, leading, leading

25. Alligator Shoes

I had a dream - I think it was a dream
But I'm not sure - it seemed so real to me this morning
An angel took flight, and stood beside my bed last night
And from what he said, I don't think he was the guardian type!
He said, "I've been sent to give you a little test
It won't take long if you'll just do your very best
So let your mind drift back to last Sunday's sermon
Tell me one thing you remember - one thing worth learning.

"I remember the alligator shoes, and the kid in pink and blue, and Mr. Johnson's hair was terribly messy!
And the boy across the aisle, winked at me when I flashed my best smile, he dresses so classy!"

"That's not good enough," he said, "you only told me what you saw
When you should have been listening and worshiping in awe!
And don't you know you'll stand before the holy God Himself one day
And when He asks you why you didn't worship him you'll have to say,

"I was thinkin' of the alligator shoes, and the kid in pink and blue, and Mr. Johnson's hair, it was incredibly messy!
And the boy across the aisle, winked at me when I flashed my best smile, you know, he dresses so classy!"

I jerked around and suddenly I found the sheet over my head and I thought maybe I was dead!
Then Dad yelled, "Oh, man!  We're almost late for church again!"
And I was glad for one more chance to really worship Him

I just remembered the alligator shoes, and the kid in pink and blue, and Mr. Johnson's hair was terribly messy!
And the boy across the aisle, winked at me when I flashed my best smile, you know, he dresses so classy!
I remembered the alligator shoes.

26. Stand Up

Betcha' gonna' be so happy!
Betcha' gonna' feel brand new
When you tell those friends of yours, they're not gonna tell you what to do
Don'tcha know they're gonna' be sorry
Don'tcha know there's comin' a day?
Can't you see they're gonna' have to pay the consequences someday?

Oh, the pressure's really on, everybody's tellin' you, everybody's doin' it, doin' it
You can put the pressure on, everybody's gotta know you're not gonna' fool with it, fool with it!
You gotta' stand up, stand up for what you know is right, for what you know is true
Stand up, stand up for what you know is right, and I will stand with you!

Betcha' gonna' be so happy!
Betcha' gonna' feel brand new
When you tell those friends of yours, they're not gonna tell you what to do
Can't you just imagine tomorrow?
Don't you feel the light of the sun?
Can't you feel the energy from hangin' tough and knowin' you've won

Oh, the pressure's really on, everybody's tellin' you, everybody's doin' it, doin' it
You can put the pressure on, everybody's gotta know you're not gonna' fool with it, fool with it!
You gotta' stand up, stand up for what you know is right, for what you know is true
Stand up!  Stand up! for what you know is right, and I will stand with you!
Stand up!  Stand up! for what you know is right, for what you know is true,
Stand up!  Stand up! for what you know is right, and I will stand with you!
I will stand up with you!
I will stand up with you!!!

27. How Blessed is the Man

How blessed is the man who does not listen to advice from the wicked or walk in his ways
But in God's law is his delight and day and night he will meditate in it
And he shall be like a tree, planted by rivers of water
And he shall be like a tree, and everything he does shall prosper

How blessed is the man who does not listen to advice from the wicked or walk in his ways
But in God's law is his delight and day and night he will meditate in it
And he shall be like a tree, planted by rivers of water
And he shall be like a tree, and everything he does shall prosper

How blessed is the man who does not listen to advice from the wicked or walk in his ways
But in God's law is his delight, and day and night he will meditate in it
Oh the Lord knows all His righteous ones, and the way of the righteous will flourish
Yes, the Lord knows all His godly ones, but the way of the wicked will perish
Yes, the way of the wicked will perish

How blessed is the man who does not listen to advice from the wicked or walk in his ways
But in God's law is his delight, and day and night he will meditate in it
And he shall be like a tree, planted by rivers of water
And he shall be like a tree, and everything he does shall prosper!!

28. Desert Storm

Be strong, be strong in the Lord
And in His mighty power
Put on the whole armor of God
So you can face
That hour when you must fight
Against the devil's schemes
Fight until you're free
For we are in a desert storm,
Fighting the enemy.

Be strong, be strong in the Lord
And in His mighty power
Put on the whole armor of God
So you can face
That hour when you must fight
Against the devil's schemes
Fight until you're free
For we are in a desert storm,
Fighting the enemy.

(Spoken)
For our struggle is not
Against flesh and blood
We fight rulers and authorities;
We fight the powers of darkness
And the spiritual forces of evil
That the eye can't see…
So put on the whole armor of God
And when the day of evil comes
You can stand your ground…
And after you have done
Everything that you can…
Stand…
Stand…
Stand!!!

Be strong, be strong in the Lord
And in His mighty power
Put on the whole armor of God
So you can face
That hour when you must fight
Against the devil's schemes
Fight until you're free
For we are in a desert storm,
Fighting the enemy
Oh, we are in a desert storm,
Fighting the enemy.

29. Angelface

Amy's out to have a good time
Even though her conscience burns
More and more she leaves behind her all the wisdom she has learned
Now she's running with the wrong crowd
All the wrong times, the wrong place
But she gets up Sunday morning
She puts on her angelface

Angelface, you cannot serve two masters
Angelface, the world will leave you cold and alone
Angelface, you're headed for disaster!
Can't you hear your Father callin', "Angelface come back home."

Amy's got it down to a science
She has everybody fooled
All her teachers and her parents think she's still "Miss Sunday School"
Can't she see her soul's in danger
Satan's out to make her fall
Kiss the Son before He's angered
You can't fool the Lord of all!

Angelface, you cannot serve two masters
Angelface, the world will leave you cold and alone
Angelface, you're headed for disaster!
Can't you hear your Father callin', "Angelface come back home."

Amy's headed down the highway
With destruction at the end
Blinded to the warning signals
Amy really needs a friend
Maybe someone cares about her
Cares enough to shine the light
Show her it's no game she's playin'
It's the evil one she fights

Angelface, you cannot serve two masters
Angelface, the world will leave you cold and alone
Angelface, you're headed for disaster!
Can't you hear your Father callin', "Angelface come back home."

"Come back home…
(Spoken)…come back home."

30. Out of the Mouths of Children

Out of the mouths of children and tiny nursing babes
From the lips of the little ones, God has ordained His praise!
He has ordained His praise because of His enemies
Lord, give our children a heart to know You
Let their song silence the foe!
Oh, Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
When I consider your heavens…the work of Your hands, what is man that you care for him?
You made man a little lower than the angels
Put all things under his feet
Made him ruler over all of Your creation
His children Your foes to defeat
Out of the mouths of children and tiny nursing babes
From the lips of the little ones, God has ordained His praise!
He has ordained His praise because of His enemies
Lord, give our children a heart to know You
Let their song silence the foe!
When children came to Jesus, shouting "Hosanna!" and bringing their praise…Hosanna!
The priests indignantly tried to send them away, but Jesus said, "Have you not read?"
Out of the mouths of children and tiny nursing babes
From the lips of the little ones, God has ordained His praise!
He has ordained His praise because of His enemies
Lord, give our children a heart to know You
Let their song silence the foe!
Lord, give our children a heart to know You
Let their song silence the foe!
"Hosanna, Hosanna, our praises we bring to Jesus, our Prophet, our priest and our King!"
